Important information for completing your application form

Qualifications
If you have the required qualifications, you must attach copies of your certificates when submitting your application.  Failure to do so will result in you being asked to complete numeracy and literacy assessments.

If you have not attained the required qualifications as indicated in the Person Specification, you can still apply for this vacancy.  Should you reach the interview stage of the selection process, you will be asked to complete numeracy and literacy assessments before proceeding to interview.  Further information will be provided at that time.

On-line assessments
As part of the initial stages of the selection process, you will be asked to complete two on-line assessments which are designed to assess your suitability for the role of Firefighter.  These two assessments are a Behavioural Styles Questionnaire and a Situational Judgement Test.  Information around these assessments can be found on the document attached to this advert.  Please keep a copy of this document for your records.

Criminal Convictions
When completing the application form you will be asked to declare any criminal convictions.  The role of a Firefighter is eligible as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (exemptions) Order 1975 therefore candidates conditionally offered a role as a Firefighter will need to complete an Enhanced DBS check where all convictions, including those that are spent, will be disclosed.  As such, we encourage all candidates to declare and provide details for all unspent and spent convictions at this stage of the process.

Having a criminal record does not prohibit any candidate from progressing through the selection process.  This information is kept confidential and will not form any part of any selection decision during the process.  Criminal convictions will only be discussed as part of pre-employment checks should you be conditionally offered a role as a Firefighter.

Merseyside Address
You do not need to live in Merseyside currently to apply for the role.  However, if successful, you will be required to reside in Merseyside from when you start your Firefighter training course.
