Fire and Rescue National Resilience Capability Advisor

HVP and Flood Response – Group Manager B plus 20%                             

Report on the HVP assurance programme 2015-16

National Resilience is looking to second for the position of Fire and Rescue National Resilience HVP and Flood Response Capability Advisor. Applications for the secondment, which is initially until 31 March 2022, with the secondment being extended beyond this (subject to final Home Office confirmation) are invited from existing specialists within the Fire & Rescue Service sector who are substantive and competent at Station Manager level or above.

 

Background

 The National Resilience programme is an essential part of Government’s arrangements to protect the national infrastructure in the event of catastrophic incidents. Within the Fire and Rescue Service the Government has invested over £200 million on vehicles, equipment, training and procedures to provide the best possible response capability. This includes equipment to deal with mass decontamination, urban search and rescue, flooding and command and control. A network of Capability Officers, Capability Advisers and National Strategic Advisers form part of the team to support the National Resilience programme.

 

The Role

 The role will appeal to a dynamic, self-motivated and innovative individual willing to play an influential role in providing effective National Resilience Capability assurance. The role requires the individual to undertake a variety of Capability specific work as directed and in respect of both HVP and Flood Rescue work streams and reporting to both Home Office and DEFRA as respective Lead Government Departments.

 

The successful applicant will represent the National Resilience Assurance Team at meetings, seminars and conferences and provide operational cover on a rota basis in an Advisory capacity as detailed in the National Co-ordination and Advisory Framework (NCAF).

We would be looking for the successful candidate to start their secondment in November 2021 or a date mutually convenient close to this.

You must seek approval from your Chief Fire Officer/Employer to be released on secondment.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 16th November 2021 at a location in Merseyside FRS.
