FIREFIGHTER AND CREW MANAGERS OPPORTUNITIES
Salary: Competent FF
£32,244 / Crew Manager £34,269 in Development to
£35,747 when Competent.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) would welcome
external applications from individuals wishing to join the Protection
Department in the roles of Firefighter or Crew Manager.

THE ROLES
As set out in the Services bold new Integrated Risk
Management Plan, we a investing heavily in our Protection team and these roles
play a vital part in ensuring that we achieve these commitments.
As a Firefighter or Crew Manager within Protection you will:
Visit very high and high-risk premises (the team will visit
7,500 over the life of the IRMP).
Contribute to information recorded within a new Management
Information System.
Complete peak hours inspections
Gain development at Level 3 through to Level 4 Diploma in
Fire Safety.
Work flexibly to meet the demands of the role.
As a Crew Manager you will:
Support the Management team with enforcement and prosecution
of non-compliance.
Develop wider understanding of specialist sites (Petroleum /
Explosive Storage).
Develop a reference in support of wider department roles
(e.g. Training).
Progress through a Development Programme, which includes
broader role development such as operational command.
THE DEPARTMENT
Like many other fire and rescue services we want to increase
the resources we have available to carry out our legal duties in relation to
Fire Safety and our Risk Based Inspection Programme.
The tragic Grenfell Tower fire in 2017 has meant, quite
rightly, that there is an increased focus on high-rise residential buildings
and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service also has responsibilities for safety in
relation to petroleum, explosives and underground railways.

ELIGIBILITY
Applications from candidates who are not currently employed
by a Local Authority Fire & Rescue Service within the UK, will not be
considered.
Protection Firefighter: Must be competent Firefighter
Protection Crew Manager: Must be at least competent Firefighter.
CM Command Assessment will be
Facilitated
as part of this selection process for those without a valid Command pass
KEY DATES

Command Assessment (CM only): 17th/18th January 2022
On appointment, candidates will undertake an induction and
development programme tailored to their experience and competencies to support
their transition.
