Every day is different working in the Corporate Communications team at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service – from planning campaigns that help save people’s lives to supporting colleagues dealing with serious incidents.
You’ll need to be able to think on your feet when dealing with emergency incidents, be confident and creative on social media and deliver regular and targeted media coverage. As well as a keen news sense and an ability to demonstrate discretion when handling sensitive information, you will be able to relate to people on all levels and manage multiple, challenging tasks at the same time in this dynamic role.
We are looking for a professional, resilient individual with great people skills, preferably with previous relevant experience and a demonstrable ability to work to high standards and tight deadlines. You will also be required to take part in an out-of-hours communications rota.

Hours: 35 hours per week (plus on-call cover on a rota basis)
Permanent contract
Salary: Grade 7 (£23, 398 - £24, 967 per annum)
In addition, £200 per month for on-call cover plus hourly flat rate when having to respond.

Location: This Communications and Media Officer post, is based at our Headquarters in Aintree, which is within easy access of the M57 and M58 motorways and the Merseyrail network.
