Main Job Summary
To provide rescue boat crew duties including: - helming and manoeuvring and deploying rescue boats. Safety and support operations. Educating and informing the community to improve water awareness. Saving and rescuing endangered life. Resolving operational incidents. Protecting the environment from hazardous materials. Supporting pre-planned events as part of safety and contingency arrangements.
Permanent and fixed term contracts are available
Remuneration is the basic sum of £21,339 per annum (crew member in development) plus ‘sleeping-in’ allowances, detailed as below:
* Crew Members in development receive £35.37 per night shift worked.
* Crew Members will be paid an additional 1 hours pay at flat rate for each period of £9.55 'sleeping-in’ duty.
* Any continuous period of response activity up to 1 hour during the
‘sleeping-in’ period will attract 1 hours pay at flat rate. Any subsequent part
of an hour will attract a full hours pay at flat rate.
Crew Members are required to complete on average a total of 182.5 x 24
hours duty periods per annum, inclusive of annual leave and other approved
Under the duty system each 24 hours period 0800 – 0800 will consist of two linked elements:
1 x 12 hour day element (core response period)
1 x 12 hour night ‘sleeping-in period’ (night element)
